With practice, you can get a good feel for how much you truly have to aim in order to guarantee a hit. Some players have noticed that if you aim until the target takes up, say, 90% of the aiming circle, it still hits every time. Most players know that (as long as you account for lag) if you aim until the enemy tank takes up 100% of the aiming circle, you'll definitely hit.
